Others are obscure, perhaps even imaginary, like Arnold Skemer’s ‘C’ and ‘D’, or Zach Sodenstern’s ‘A’. Tracing connections between these books, the author elaborates on the symbolic content of letters, Joycean characters, Franz Kafka, Guy Davenport, and libraries within libraries.
